Diwali - First Experiments

After research into the Diwali festival I came to the conclusion that visually a simple colour palette of yellows or gold would best suit any work produced. Diwali itself involves the lighting of tea lights and paper lanterns. While the first thought might be to use an excess of colour to parody an indian aesthetic the festival itself is a celebration of light banishing dark, and traditional celebrations centre around the warm natural light of a flame.

In these first experiments ink scans have been subtly manipulated to look like dots, dashes, or scribbles of light. Many individual layers were created to build a library of material I could take into Aftereffects. Each layer was also saved as three different versions of luminosity.

These layers were then imported into Aftereffects and used to create a range of animations.
