From the Studio Floor - Digital paintings

Initial digital paintings made from ink layers. In these works I looked to contrast painterly marks with more graphic elements. The idea was that these graphic elements might better enforce a sense of pictorial depth. I like how this mix of graphic and painterly create a richer surface, giving the eye more to 'look' for. The layers used to make these images were also used to make the full animation.

While they are stepping stones of a process in which the end product is an animation I like the idea that these function as outcomes in they own right. Reinterpreting/reworking/representing the image continues the conversations about aura, originality, value, and a technological sublime which has ran through my work and critical thinking.
